Su-Dag White Port
Catalogue Vintage wines White
In the Massandra winery, the production of high-quality, fortified, port-style wine began under the supervision of Prince Leo Golytzyn in the 19-th century. New wines got their names according to their type and place of their origin.
Su-Dag White Port was produced since 1936 up to 1940. Nowadays it is known as Surozh White Port.
The wine was made from the local White Kokour grape variety that grows in valleys and on the slopes of mountains in the vicinity of Soudak. The grapes are harvested when natural sugar content has reached no less than 18 %. The resultant wine has sugar level of 9.3 % and alcohol - 16.9 %. By the time of sale, fine white port has acquired a tawny, dark tawny or amber colour. Su-Dag White Port has a beautiful, soft, mature, rich port wine bouquet, as well as a full rich palate with notes of rye bread, great balance and harmony.
A long, complex and labor - intensive process of ageing enables a young wine to mature and become a high quality fine wine, ready for bottling and then for selling or for further ageing in bottle.
It can be matched with various meat dishes. However a good old port ideally suits a good mature cheese. Ports also accompany soft creamy cheese, quince jam, all hearty meals and sweet desserts.
