South Coast White Port
Catalogue Vintage wines White
South Coast White Port is produced since 1944, known before as Alupka White Port and Alushta White Port. The wine is made from the white varieties of Semillon, Aligote and others, growing in vineyards, scattering all along the coast line from Foros up to Mount Chatyr-Dag near the resort town of Alushta.
The grapes have to be rather sweet, with natural sugar content of no less than 22 %. The young wine is aged in oak cask in the Massandra cellars for three years. During long term maturing the wine acquires its unique typical "port" characteristics. The resultant wine has sugar level of 10 %, alcohol - 18 %. Deep amber colour. Well-pronounced bouquet with evident fruity flavor and a slight almond tinge. Rich, soft, well-balanced palate with long aftertaste.
No better white port is to be found for a formal or official celebration. South Coast White Port is the best welcome for gala parties and celebrations.
